Farm and Sales Policy
FARM BIOSECURITY
To maintain the Biosecurity of our livestock, we do not permit farm visits. We prioritize the health and well-being of our livestock, and therefore want to minimize the risk of compromising our Biosecurity as much as possible! We are happy to supply lots of pictures, videos, and even schedule video calls out in our goat paddock with the goat(s) you are interested in purchasing.
We do not accept goats back after they have left our premises. This is to ensure that we do not compromise our livestock Biosecurity. Thank you for understanding!
VIDEO CALLS
Our farm offers customers the unique opportunity to schedule a video call with us, and the goat(s), you are interested in placing a deposit on and purchasing! If you are interested in a goat(s) that are available, don’t hesitate to reach out to us via email or FB messenger, to schedule a video call time. We will introduce you to your potential new herd member(s), discuss all details pertaining to the goat(s) you are interested in, paperwork included with the goat(s), the purchasing process, placing a nonrefundable 50% (of the goat(s) purchase price) deposit(s), etc.
Goat Transport
To help maintain our herd's biosecurity and health, we do not allow farm pick ups for sold goats. We offer the following:
-
Us transporting the goat(s) to your property; only available if your property is less than 2 hours away from Talbot County, MD.
-
If your property is 2+ hours away, we can meet up somewhere or halfway to your property.
-
Because transporters rarely come across the Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore of MD, we are happy to meet the transporter on the western shore of MD, in the Annapolis region of MD.
Important Info About Transporting
If any of our goat(s) that are being transported to you are under 6 months old at the time of transport, they MUST be transported in a kennel/crate. We raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, so kids of this breed are very small compared to Boer or standard dairy goat kids, increasing the risk of injury when left loose in large trailers.
By having them travel in a kennel/crate, this minimizes the risk of them getting hurt during transport (broken legs, kids sliding around the trailer, shavings bags/items in the trailer falling and/or sliding around and hitting the kids, older goats being rough, etc.).
You are RESPONSIBLE to ENSURE that the transporter has a kennel/crate(s) for the goat kids that are being transported to you.
If the transporter arrives and does not have a kennel/crate(s): We will hand the transporter our personal kennel/crate(s) with the goat kid(s) in them for the safe transport of the goat kid(s); HOWEVER, we will then be REIMBURSED for our kennel/crate(s) from YOU the BUYER via Paypal or Venmo.
**You must ENSURE that the transporter has a kennel/crate(s) for goat kid(s) under 6 months old, for the goat(s) safety. Nigerian Dwarf goat kids are very small and cannot be placed loose in a large area of a trailer loose.**
GOAT RAISING AND KNOWLEDGE
If this is your first-time owning goats, we require that you do some research into what it takes and costs to properly own and raise goats. You can reach out to local goat clubs/associations, read the ADGA 'Getting Started' page, join Facebook goat groups, and look at some of the informative websites listed below, to help you prepare for your new goats. It is best to understand the time and care involved with raising goats, before you actually commit and bring your goats home.
For more information, the following are good informational websites that are very helpful new goat owners alike:
• American Consortium for Small Ruminants
• American Dairy Goat Association
• Miniature Dairy Goat Association
TWO GOAT MINIMUM
Please note that you cannot keep only a single goat by itself. Goats must be kept with at least one other goat, so that they are not lonely and depressed. We CANNOT and WILL NOT sell only a SINGLE GOAT that will be kept alone, due to the well-being risk to the goat. Horses, sheep, chickens, llamas, alpacas, dogs, and any other animals are not suitable companions for goats. While goats may get along with these animals, goats need other goats for companionship. They cannot be kept by themselves or with other species of animals and no other goats.
If you do not already own another goat, you must purchase at least two goats (either from our farm or another breeder), so that you will have the minimum requirement of two goats being kept together.
**Two is the MINIMUM number of goats that one can keep. Everyone needs friends, even goats!**
RESERVATIONS FREE - How to make one, How it works
The process for placing a reservation(s) on the yet-to-be-born doeling(s):
1) Contact us about making a reservation and which breeding you're interested in placing a reservation
2) Sign our Farm Policy document (which is this policy) and send it back to us via email or messenger
If you want to cancel the reservation(s) on a breeding(s) please let us know ASAP, so we can update the status of the reservation(s) list, and remove your name. If you cancel the reservation, you will not be guaranteed a doeling.
A reservation DOES NOT GURANTEE a doeling. A breeding may result in only bucklings, we may retain the only doeling, etc.
**We reserve the right to cancel a reservation at any time.**
RESERVATIONS - When the kids are born
Once the doeling(s) are born, people who placed a reservation on the doelings will be contacted. if there are more doelings born than there were reservations placed, after we choose our retaining doeling, the person who placed a reservation first will have a choice of doelings, then the second person, etc.
Then, at that point, 50% of the kid's price is required via PayPal, followed by letting us know which date for transporting the kid (At or after the 8 week old mark for the kid(s)) within 30 days of the doe being born.
If you do not respond within 72 hours from when we contacted you to place the 50% deposit of the full price of the doeling (which you put a reservation on) the reservation will be voided. The reservation will not be rolled over, or applied to another breeding or born goat kid.
NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT (When purchasing a goat that is already born and for sale, that you don't have a reservation on)
We require a nonrefundable 50% of the goat(s) purchase price deposit via PAYPAL or Venmo on any goat(s) (that are listed as available for sale) which you want to purchase. The deposit is to ensure that we will hold the goat(s) for you, until a fulfillment of the purchase price and the goat is transported to the buyer's property. Upon transport/purchase the remaining price of the goat(s) you placed a deposit on will be required to be fulfilled immediately either via CASH, PAYPAL, or Venmo.
Before placing a deposit, this document, the Farm and Sales Policy Agreement, will be signed by Willow Bend Farm (the seller) and then sent via email or FB messenger, for the buyer to sign electronically or physically (depending on how the document is sent). If document is sent to be signed physically, the buyer can then take a picture of the signed document and send it back to us, Willow Bend Farm, via email or FB messenger. Only after the buyer has electronically or physically (depending on how the document is sent by Willow Bend Farm to the buyer) signed and accepts our Farm and Sales Terms Policy, can the buyer place a deposit on an available goat(s).
This deposit is nonrefundable under any circumstances, except if the goat(s) you placed the deposit(s) on (before being transported from our farm property; and therefore, still under our care) dies or we cancel the sale (SEE RIGHT OF CANCELATION) before the goat(s) are picked up/transported from our farm premises.
FULFILLMENT OF REMAINING PRICE OF GOAT(S) (When purchasing a goat that is already born and for sale, which you don't have a reservation on)
A date for transport/fulfillment of purchase price will be decided upon between the buyer and the seller. At the time of transport/fulfillment of the purchase price, the remaining price of the goat(s) that the buyer placed a 50% nonrefundable deposit on, is required to be immediately paid either via PayPal, Venmo, or in cash.
If the agreed upon transport date is rescheduled 2xs and/or the buyer is NOT properly communicating information with us, or ghosting us, the sale and nonrefundable 50% deposit is voided. We will not refund the nonrefundable 50% deposit.
RIGHT OF RETAINMENT - Reservations
We reserve the right to retain any kid that is born on our farm, despite the status of the reservation list. We try our hardest to fulfill every reservation, however, circumstances may result in our farm retaining a doe that had a reservation on them. If this happens you have the following options:
1) You roll over your reservation onto a doe born that year from another pairing.
2) Roll over your reservation onto one of the upcoming spring pairings
3) Roll over your reservation onto a pairing for the next kidding season, when the breeding schedule is released.
RIGHT OF CANCELLATION
We reserve the right to REFUSE a sale and/or CANCEL and refund any reservation deposit or 50% deposit on our goat(s), At ANY POINT IN TIME for ANY REASON prior to the buyer fulfilling the remaining price of the goat(s) being purchased and picked up, at our DISCRETION.
You Accept 100% Responsibility for All Costs
When you place a reservation and/or place a deposit on an already born goat, you are accepting FULL 100% RESPONSIBILITY for all of the costs involved with your goat(s) that you have placed a reservation and/or deposit on.
This includes:
-
ADGA registration fees (registration will be mailed to us, and go with goat kid(s) upon pickup/transport)
-
DNA fees if needed due to a dual breeding.
-
CVI cost plus the vet visit cost.
-
Transporter service Fees (air or ground).
-
Kennel/Crate(s) reimbursement cost if transporter does not have a kennel/crate(s), and we hand him our kennel/crate(s) to ensure the safety of the goat kid(s) if they are under 6 months old.
HEALTH
We are not responsible for the goat(s) and their health after they leave our property. Once they leave our property, you and the transporter are solely responsible for the goat(s) you have purchased and signed for. After signing, you are acknowledging that you and the transporter are responsible for your purchased goat(s) health, care, and management.
When they leave our farm, we do not know the different variables they have been exposed to, and therefore do not guarantee the health or life of them after they have left the farm. Upon fulfillment of the full price and transport, you will receive a copy of the Terms and Bill of Sale Agreement, which you will sign, and a Health Record documenting supplements, wormings, disease testing (only applicable for goats 6+ months and older), etc. that you signed for the goat(s) you bought. A copy of the signed Farm and Sales Policy Agreement will be emailed or given to you at this time as well.
**You must do your research into how to properly care for goats. There are many different things that can cause the quick death of a goat.**
TRANSFER OWNERSHIP
**(This applies only to registered goats and not goats sold without papers/registration as pet quality)**
Upon purchase/pick up (for both reservation doelings and goats already born for sale), we will transfer the registered goat(s) into your name via the following, provided that the registration is not pending for the registration papers:
• We will sign the MDGA certificate(s) for transfer and give you the certificate(s), which you must also sign, and then you must send in via mail to MDGA for transfer of ownership with the applicable fee.
• We will sign the ADGA certificate(s) and give to you the certificate(s), which you must also sign, and then you must send in via mail to ADGA for transfer of ownership with the applicable fee.
Once we sign the certificate(s) and they are given to you, we are NOT RESPONSIBLE for transferring ownership of the goat(s) to you or held accountable for the fees associated with the transfer process. You are responsible for the transfer of ownership, as well as the fees, and must send the respective certificate(s) in via mail to ADGA and MDGA for the transfer of ownership in a timely manner (60 days). Please note that sometimes there are delays in the ADGA and MDGA paperwork turnover time, that is out of our control and we are not held responsible.
We Don't Guarantee the Height of Our Animals
We breed for our Nigerian dwarf goats to be under the maximum height requirements for the Nigerian dwarf goat breed. However, with all breedings and genetics there is a portion of randomness that is out of humanity's control. Therefore, we do not guarantee the height of our Nigerian dwarf goats.
